Mission Statement

The UCSF Fresno Department of Surgery provides state of the art surgical care for the diverse patient population of the Central Valley and surrounding communities by maintaining ongoing access for patients regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.  We are committed to reflecting our diverse patient population with providers that value diversity, equity and inclusion. This greatly contributes to our ability to educate the next generation of surgeons within our robust university affiliated setting.  We stress competence in decision-making, operative technique, life-long learning and compassion to ensure that our graduates, and faculty, are confident and competent.
